Smart Pub Summit: tackling industry challenges and embracing innovation

The Smart Pub Summit recently held at our Thrapston headquarters was a resounding success, with a strong focus on addressing some of the most pressing challenges in the food service industry. From sustainability and energy-saving techniques to managing food waste and responsibly handling fats, oils, and grease, the event provided invaluable insights for food service operators.

We took this opportunity to relaunch our “Alltogether Greener” standard, originally developed 15 years ago while collaborating with a global boiler and solar panel manufacturer. This comprehensive framework aligns with WhitCo’s ISO 14001 environmental management standard, integrating ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 to ensure best practices across all areas of the business. These standards are at the core of WhitCo’s commitment to creating more sustainable, eco-friendly solutions for commercial kitchens and food service spaces.

The summit showcased the Test Kitchen and ‘Taste’ Training Restaurant within our Customer Experience Centre, offering attendees a chance to see how cutting-edge technology and innovation can support sustainability. The Test Kitchen, in particular, is a resource where we continuously develop and test theories related to food service and hospitality, ensuring our solutions are both practical and future-proof. Events like the Smart Pub Summit allow us to learn directly from real-world engagement, supporting our goal of improving the way we design and implement commercial kitchens.

By hosting these events, we aim to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and inspire innovation within the food service industry. We’re not just manufacturers—we’re partners in the journey toward creating more sustainable and efficient kitchens. Through these summits, we continue to strengthen our role as a leader in sustainability and innovation in commercial kitchen design.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Smart Pub Summit, and a special thanks to those who engaged in meaningful discussions on how to improve sustainability practices. We look forward to further collaboration and advancing eco-friendly solutions within the industry.
