Celebrating young talent: Chef Alfie’s Stage at Michelin-starred Galvin restaurants

At WhitCo, we are proud to nurture and support the next generation of culinary talent through Jeff’s Way. One of our standout young chefs, Alfie Gravett from Northampton College, recently took a remarkable step in his culinary journey. After winning the prestigious Student Chef of the Year award at the Jeff’s Way Awards, Alfie embarked on a transformative Stage experience with Chris Galvin at his Michelin-starred restaurants, Galvin Bistrot & Bar and Galvin La Chapelle, from November 4th to November 8th.

This immersive opportunity allowed Alfie to work alongside Chris and Geoff Galvin’s talented teams, honing his skills in world-class kitchens known for their exceptional standards and innovative cuisine. The experience is yet another testament to the impact of Jeff’s Way in empowering young chefs and providing them with life-changing opportunities.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chefs Chris and Geoff Galvin and their dedicated teams for their mentorship and support. A special thank you goes to everyone who continues to champion Jeff’s Way, helping us take positive steps forward in supporting culinary careers. Congratulations, Alfie, on this incredible milestone—we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

About Jeff’s Way

Jeff’s Way CIC was founded in memory of Jeff Whitaker, with a mission to inspire and support the next generation of chefs. Driven by our pillars of education, opportunity, and security, Jeff’s Way offers scholarships, mentorships, and unique work experiences to help culinary graduates from institutions like Northampton College reach their full potential. Through the support of generous donors and our dedicated community, we continue to create opportunities that nurture young culinary talent, giving them a head start in an increasingly competitive industry.

Supporting the Future of Culinary Arts

Thanks to contributions from our supporters, Jeff’s Way has awarded over £15,000 in scholarships, recognising and celebrating the achievements of 12 young chefs. This funding enables graduates to access opportunities they might not have otherwise, like Chef Alfie’s training at the Michelin-starred Galvin restaurants. Experiences like these not only shape careers but also deepen these young chefs’ commitment to their craft.
